‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles’ is a novel written โœ๏ธ by Thomas Hardy. It was published ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ in a serialised manner in The Graphic, a British newspaper ๐Ÿ—ž in 1891. The story narrates ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ the life of a fallen woman named Tess ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿผ, whose fate never favoured fortune.  ‘Tess of the d’Urbervilles‘ deals with love, despair and poverty.

Beauty lay not in the thing, but in what the thing symbolized.

Tess is the eldest daughter of John and Joan Durbeyfield, a poor peasant family ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ. But John realises that he hails from a noble family๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš–๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€โš–๏ธ named d’Urbervilles and decides to send Tess to join the d’Urbervilles in Trantridge and claim their inheritance.

But she feels infatuated ๐Ÿ’˜ with Angel Clare whom she met in the May Day Dance๐Ÿ’ƒ. They just exchange a glance ๐Ÿ‘€ there. No talks ๐Ÿค, no dance ๐Ÿ’ƒ but just a glance ๐Ÿคฉ

Tess moves ๐Ÿš™  to Tantridge

She is supposed to move to Trantridge to locate the d’Urbervilles as their horse ๐ŸŽ dies which was the only source of income๐Ÿ’ฐ. She finds the Mrs d’Urbervilles who is blind ๐Ÿ˜Ž and her son Alec d’Urbervilles ๐Ÿค . Alec is fascinated by her beauty and appoints her as the poultry keeper ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ“.
