Jane Eyre is a novel written ✍️ by Charlotte Brontë under her masculine sounding pseudonym Currer Bell. It was written in the year 1847 and reveals with social norms 📜 set in the Victorian society, especially the status of women 👱♀️. The novel 📖 can be considered as a semi-autobiography as it narrates certain events from the author life of Brontë.
Why is Jane Eyre Disregarded? 😞
Jane Eyre is mistreated by the family of Mrs. Reed at the Gateshead Hall 🏠 as she is an orphan. Jane Eyre is left to be tortured by 😩 her children and punishes her when they feel she has disobeyed them. She was terrified 😰 when locked 🔒 in a red room where her uncle died ⚰️. She feels the presence of his ghost 👻.
Jane Eyre to the Lowood School 🏤
Jane is sent to a charity school 🚸 managed by Mr. Brocklehurst under the suggestion of Mr. Lloyd. Even though she was happy 😊 to go to school, those were years of torture for her as well as all the students there. Mr Brocklehurst was a hypocrite and didn’t feed 🥪 and provided the students with enough clothing 👗. Rather he was using the money 💴 for his personal gains 🤑.
Jane Eyre’s Friendship with Helen Burns 👭
Jane Eyre, for the first time in her life, confronts love 😍 and caring 🤗. She befriends with her school mate Helen Burns who tells describes of the spiritual world and the love of God ➕. Jane doesn’t adopt her beliefs but loves her for her character.
Miss Temples Cares for Jane Eyre 🤗
Miss Temple is a teacher at the Lowood School who cares for Jane. She takes care of Jane and tries to provide necessary 🍶 materials for them. Jane learns the behaviour of the so-called ladies👩🦰 of the aristocratic society.
Helen Burns Dies 😢
Helen becomes sick 🤒 when the typhus pandemic hits the area. She dies in the arms of Jane. She again feels lonely 😔 without her. But she manages to succeed as the school management changes and finally emerges herself as a teacher 👩🏫.
Jane Eyre as a Teacher 👩🏫
Jane Eyre is appointed as the teacher 📚 of the Lowood School but finds herself difficult to survive there as she feels lonely without Helen. Miss Temple has got married 👰 and left the school. In the midst of this loneliness 😑, she finds a way to get out of the Lowood School by advertising 🗞️ as a private tutor seeking for a job 💼.
Hired as the Governess of Adèle Varens
Jane Eyre moves the story estate 🏡, at Thornfield, to tutor, Adèle Varens 👧🏻, the warden of Mr. Rochester. She is received by the maid, Mrs.Fairfax 👩. Mr Rochester was in a relationship 👩❤️👨 with Cèline, a Parisian opera singer 🎤, and she claims Adèle Varens to be his daughter. Jane Eyre’s identity was unstable 🙄 as she was educated 📖 but was not treated well by the aristocrats 👨💼 of the society.
Is There a Secret in Thornfield? 🤫
Jane Eyre senses the presence of somebody else in the house as she hears strange laughters 😆. Mrs.Fairfax says that it is Grace Poole, a drunkard 🍾 servant. But certain unusual events take place in the house like the fire 🔥 in Rochester’s room. Jane saves him and asks him to file case 📝 against Grace Poole. But, Rochestor refuses to do so and pleads 🙏 her not to reveal the incident to anyone else.
Mr Rochester is Warned About Jane Eyre
Mr Rochester conducts a party 🎉 in the estate house 🏡. Mr. Rochester brings his girlfriend Blanche Ingram 👫 who warns him about Jane Eyre. She says that these governesses appear to please 😌 their masters in the intention of marrying 👰🤵 them. Jane Eyre, even though educated is ill-treated due to her poverty 😶 and lower strata in the society.
Jane Eyre Visits Mrs.Reed 😡
Jane Eyre takes leave for a month from Thornfield and visits her aunt Mrs.Reed. Mrs.Reed is now in her deathbed 👵, hated by her daughters. She visits her aunt but Mrs.Reed isn’t ready to accept her. Instead she handovers a letter ✉️ which says that her uncle John Eyre, sent three years ago kept it secretly. Mrs.Reed then dies⚰️.
Jane ❤️ Rochester
“I have for the first time found what I can truly love–I have found you. You are my sympathy–my better self–my good angel–I am bound to you with a strong attachment. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, a solemn passion is conceived in my heart; it leans to you, draws you to my centre and spring of life, wrap my existence about you–and, kindling in pure, powerful flame, fuses you and me in one”.Jane Eyre
She returns back to Thornfield while Rochestor reveals that he is getting married with Blanche Ingram 🙁. Jane decides to open 🔓 up her heart ♥ and describes of her love to him. Both of them decide to get married 👰🤵 and end up getting engaged 💍. She is happy 😊 to live with the man whom she loves.
Jane 💔 Rochester
The day of wedding arrives💒. But unfortunately the marriage is dismissed 😢 as a man named Richard Mason enters and announces 📢 that his marriage has been conducted with his sister 😧 from when he was in Jamaica 🇯🇲, Bertha Antoinetta Mason. Bertha and her brother deceived Rochester and married him concealing the fact that she is a lunatic 🤯.
Rochester rushes 🏃♂️ to the third story and finds her in the room. The laughter that Jane heard was that of Bertha’s 👩🏾🦱. Grace Poole was her servant. Rochester requests Jane Eyre to marry him and be his mistress which she rejects 🙅♀️.
Jane Eyre Leaves Thornfield 🚶♀️
Jane Eyre leaves Thornfield in the middle of the night 🌃 and spends three days in the street in search of work 🤷♀️ and food 🥣. The third night, she is sheltered by a clergyman, St.John Rivers. She befriends his sisters 👭 and learns that they are also governesses. Their father has deprived St.John of his inheritance 📃 because of an argument between them.
Jane and St.John soon realise 😯 that they are cousins and she has inherited an amount of 20,000 pounds 💰 from her uncle, John Eyre. Contended to get to know her family 😊, she shares her inheritance with the cousins. They renovate the house with that money.
Jane Eyre 💘 St. John Rivers? 🤨
St. John Rivers decides to move to India 🇮🇳 as a missionary and wishes Jane to accompany him. He tries to convince Jane to marry him and almost succeeds. But Jane reproaches when gets a telepathic call 📞 of Rochester in her dream 😴. She hears Rochester calling 🗣️ out for her and Jane Eyre leaves to Thornfield to find him.
Jane Eyre 💍Rochester
Jane travels 🚗 to Thornfield but the house was burnt 🔥 and nothing was left. She comes to know that the fire had injured Rochester his hand and is left with a blind eye 👁🗨. A local innkeeper informs 💬 her that Bertha Mason had set fire 💥 to the house one night. He also says that Rochester now lives in Ferndean.
“Do you think I am an automaton? – a machine without feelings? … Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! – I have as much soul as you – and full as much heart!”
Jane Eyre rushes to Ferndean. She finds Rochester unhappy 😒. They meet and decide to get married. The story is narrated 📝 10 years later. They are living happily and has a son 👶. Rochester has partially regained his sight 👨👩👦. Adèle Varens 👩🦰has grown up is a companion to Jane Eyre.

She is a woman 🙋♀️ with her own ideas💡, courageous enough to say it aloud 🔊, who ever it is, even to the man she loves 👩❤️👨.
